A prequel to Game of Thrones, this show is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story leading up to and covering what it called the "Dance of the Dragons". In October of 2019, House of the Dragon was given a straight to series order. Casting for foreign actors began in July 2020 with shooting starting in April 2021. The show premiered on August 21st, 2022 and went on with 10 more episodes in its first season. In five days following the show’s premiere the series had already been renewed for a second season with Sapochnik departing as showrunner post season 1. Olivia Cooke and Emily Carey, who play Lady "Alicent" Hightower are women in the King's inner circle who were raised in the Red Keep. They're known as the most comely woman in all of the Seven Kingdoms."
